Funny place, Australia. 60% of Queensland has been declared officially flooded , while bushfires are burning in large sections of Victoria. The floods are bringing outbreaks of Dengue Fever, a mosquito-borne disease. The only safe place is...the beach! Anyhow, Angourie's most famous resident is Gordon Merchant, founder of Billabong Surfwear, and keen beach-lover. Apparently, Angourie beaches have some of the best surf in Australia. I don't know about the surf, but Gordon's house was the biggest castle I've ever seen in a sleepy coastal hamlet.

Kim, only thing spooky about this beach is the ("killer crab") that inhabits it, photo of which should be forthcoming. I believe his name is Frank.

Hello Julian, My my ya'll certainly do have gigantic barnacles in Australia. I 've chosen "Turner Beach" for my notebook. We pray for your safety and relief from the raging fires in your country. Julian, is this formation, natural or man made?
Mollusks from all over Eastern Australia come here for the team-building, rock-climbing exercise.
I used this picture as a background on my notebook computer ever since I took it in January 2009. I never get bored looking at it, but it's early days. Something about it cheers me up every time I look at it.
