Jeff, the sand is red because it contains iron oxide. Drinking too much shiraz makes the red sand look really close. Carol, thank you for the kind comment. We in Australia take it for granted, until we return from an overseas trip, particularly Europe or Asia. There is so much space here, it boggles the mind. The aborigines left nothing but footprints for 40,000 years, so most of Australia looks like an uninhabited red planet. Yep, just like Mars with beaches and forests. Hey, we got broadband now, so it doesn't matter.
I have my house all picked out. I agree with Gene that you are blessed to live in a place such as this, Julian. So beautiful.
Julian, metaphorically speaking, today my beach is a raging bull. The surf is 8-10 feet and singing a song while re-arranging the shoreline. Beautiful day otherwise. Saw the exact photo you sent on Fox News last evening. STAY OUT OF THE WATER!!!
So, any idea what makes the sand red? Maybe it's all that Shiraz you blokes produce down under?
Wow. Julian, I hope you realize how blessed you are to live so close to beaches like this. Imagine living in one of those houses on the hill and having this view out your window. Would you eventually take it for granted?
