Yes, Gene, I am on one of the entitlement programs-disability. I had polio as a child, was completely paralyzed, spent a year in an iron lung, then mostly recovered, got a Masters degree, raised a family and worked my tail off for 3 decades as a mental health counselor to terminally ill people. Now I am one of them myself-back in a wheelchair and on a ventilator 24/7 due to post-polio syndrome. I paid into social security for 30 years, so I have no shame in needing to use it now that I can no longer work. As for the govt.spending money, the news today reported that the amount of taxes paid on last years income was the lowest since 1950! That may be why you see people living on the street, and mentally ill who cannot get necessary treatment or medication. I truly hope you never are in a position to be treated like that. Believe me, after 30 yrs working in the mental health and health care system, I can tell you that what we do to the elderly indigent, disabled, and mentally ill is disgraceful. I will get off my soapbox and I won't "go political" on this site again, because it simply isn't appropriate. But no, I won't leave this country. I spend at least 4 hours each day writing letters to senators, representatives and heads of corporations to work on making our country a more compassionate place to live. We are the best country in the world in terms of freedom-but we can, and must, do even better - especially for those who are fragile mentally or physically through no fault of their own. I wish you the best, Gene, and I hope you never have to experience the fear of being terminally ill with no health insurance, as so many of my clients did. They are not "losers"-they are just like you and me. *Puts soapbox away and goes back to reading on the sandy beach, sipping a margarita, and hoping the sand doesn't make the ventilator seize up and quit working! ;-)

Hey Gene and Rick - I'm with you guys, I can provide a small boat with a big leak for them to paddle to Greece in. If they want European government, then why don't they just go there and leave our great country alone? It will save us alot of money - and aggravation. Here's a cold Corona to both of you!

The beaches here in Oregon are spectacular! True that the water is usually cold, however this last weekend it was warm enough for swimming. (Look up the definition of socialism-it is NOT what we have. I am proud of our president for his wisdom and compassion. Now can we take politics out of our beaches and just enjoy the ocean scenes?)
