Fishing the Stumps

...and the sharks love this spot!

GeneCPart2 - I thought you probably had a similar area as this. This is the narrowest point of the peninsula. This Cape used to be an island, so the ocean constantly tries to reclaim it and put it back as it was. It has to be re-filled after each storm so the residents have access. But, the stumps remain which creates an awesome fishing hole (but not so good for swimming).

Hi Jean-o. I understand completely. We have similar erosion problems, especially after hurricanes. The difference here is Santa Rosa Island has absolutely no trees with a significant root system with the exception of palm trees and they simply wash away under these ciircumstances.

Hi GeneCPart2 - the Globsters are actually tree stumps where at one time this spot was wooded. The coastline of this Peninsula constantly shifts with every storm, so all that remains in this area are the stumps, thus the name. It is a bountiful fishing hole that is a local favorite.

Jean-o, looks like the aftermath of a category one hurricane. Could you identify the Globsters for us? Still a nice beach. Cheers.
