We've camped in the state park dozens of times over the years. Belive it or not, the tide variations are actually very small (less than 3 feet of elevation between high and low tide levels and sheltered from waves). It is a nice place to stay if you have a boat that you can venture out to other areas with, but the beach line on long key is not what I would call nice really.
Philly isn't going to see the sun until MONDAY!
That has to be the most gradual beach slope I've ever seen. I bet the tide variations are enormous. While it doesn't make a very inviting beach for swimming, it has an appealing natural beauty. Much better than the frigid rain we're getting in Philly today. (At least the Fightin' Phils won their first game against the Dodgers!)
