Jeff, you are right. I have no explanation for this photo's asymmetric horizons. Maybe the sand was sloping, but then again, the man is standing perpendicular. People who live in LA are used to the bizarre, so maybe the sea slopes to the north...Gene, the plane on LH island is landing on an air strip just behind the dunes. They bring tourists to the island twice each day.
Julian, I agree with Jeff, looks like you might be a little "tipsy" in this self protrait. TOTALLY unrelated to this photo and in viewing your repertoire of beach photos and because I may not live to see your extensive number of photos come full cirlce, I am interested in the photo of the high-winged (STOL) aircraft nose-diving to a landing parallel to the beach on Lord Howe Island. Is there passenger service to the Island or is this guy just having fun?. I guess I should have sent an e-mail but this was presently on my mind. Cheers.
I feel like I'm looking at an M.C. Escher work. The beach looks level but the horizon and pier are clearly listing to port.
You know, people were actually catching decent-sized fish from this pier. So, it was no surprise to see a seal and two dolphins hanging around it.
