Hi Jean-o, Carol, Jeff... No snow as we speak, however it could happen tonight. It is very true about the cotton fields of Alabama... on the open road and at a distance a field of cotton appears to be a fresh snowfall. I'll keep you posted when the blizzard hits!!!!! Cheers to you all.
Jeff - Good one! Just how high is your parking lot ski jump? I bet it's a big one and will still be there in May!
NEWS FLASH: Winter Olympics being moved from Vancouver to Philadelphia. Record 70+ inches of snow for the winter. Ski jump venue will be the mountain in the Acme parking lot.
Hey, great to hear from you Gene! We Pennsylvanians are happy to share a little of the white stuff with other states. Jean-O, I've never seen a field of cotton, but I love your description.
Hey Gene - I was wondering if you could see the snow for the sand...I always think when passing thru southern Alabama that the cotton just prior to picking looks like a dusting of snow in a plowed field...now the white in the fields IS snow!
Cont'd.... possibly tonight. Last time was 33 years ago. It's very difficult to distinguish the sand from the snow where this occurs. Cheers.
As Paula Deen would say (Hey Ya'll). Would you believe SNOW is predicated for our area today and possib
Wow - a repeat complete with repeat comments! At least it looks warm...Hey Gene - did you get snow this morning?
LOL, her favorite place to hide is still with mom, after all these years! Have good night, Jean-o!
Carol, your daughter was a smart one! I would seek shelter, too. And, what better place to hide than with mom!
I can relate Jean-o: I remember growing up in Central PA and being hit by Hurricane Agnes (1972). Not what you expect in that area that's for sure. But I have also sat through my share of them in Pensacola as well as Virginia Beach. My youngest daughter was due to be born in Pensacola when Hurricane Gilbert passed through! Thankfully, she decided to wait until a few days after the storm passed!
Palm Beach is wall-to-wall lomos, and the residents wear silk caftans on the beach - even post Madoff. Ann Seymour
Thankyou Carol! We missed the storm in Florida, but drove home to Indiana and got hit by Ike's winds the next day. We're not used to 100+mph winds up here, we lost alot of roofs and trees.
It's a fabulous shot, Jean-o. Just glad you escaped the brunt of the storm.
Hi Jeff - The high tide was Ike's doing...by the next day, the dune fences were totally gone. It was an amazing experience to never see the storm, just the effects from it.
Is the water supposed to come all the way up to the fences like that or is that Ike's influence?
Hello Jean-o, I think this might be the WAVE next door!! Nice shot.
